One of the most cherished themes of Persian mystical poets - the dialogue between the soul and the Beloved or Creator - is at the very heart of most of the pieces presented here. Establishing a dialogue with the Beloved means “speaking to Him and opening one’s heart to Him”, passing through the stages one by one, until eventually reaching the stage of love suggested by the Shâh Hoseyni Suite, with its infinitely various subtleties. The path is a long one, for […] as long as man has not bound his soul of the supreme Source and has not reach the point where he sees nothing but God, a real intimate dialogue cannot be established.” The long supplication of the Sheykh Amiri Suite bears witness to this intimate relationship between creature and Creator. As for the Mystical Hymns and Dances, they are musical illustrations of the indescribable feelings of joy and amazement one can experience in such a state.
