Yves Rousseau is one of the leading figures on the scene of French and European jazz. After a wide experience playing in chamber and symphony orchestras and a few incursions into baroque, contemporary and electro-acoustic music, he met up with the man who was to change his musical perception in a dramatic and permanent way – Jean-François Jenny-Clark. They met in the Franco-German Jazz ensemble, which Yves Rousseau conducted jointly with Albert Mangelsdorff from 1990 to 1993. Yves Rousseau has been leading his own quartet for several years now, as well as composing and improvising music bordering on jazz and what’s known as New Music.
