Each anthology in THE GOLDEN AGE series is devoted to one of the great names of French chanson. All those to whom we owe its revival and its very best numbers.
A highly selective choice, texts written by experts, detailed credits, luxury packaging and generous timing: this indispensable series will form the essential basis of any self-respecting record collection.
It’s no easy task to establish Félix Leclerc’s discography. Over the years the different labels in charge of this repertoire have made some judicious mixtures, put out subtle substitutes or commissioned new versions, and on top of this there’s been the addition of occasional more or less “private” recordings. Most of the records still available are hardly ever accompanied by satisfactory liner notes – they don’t fulfil the criterion of giving essential information that would help draw up a reliable chronology of the releases. But it would seem that with the present release, we’ve been able to assemble all the official recordings made by Félix Leclerc between 1950 and 1957 and align them chronologically.
